Volunteer
Two Tunnels aims to create a dedicated volunteer program throughout New York City to provide extra care and support that speeds up each pet’s recovery.
How It Works
When a pet goes missing, every minute counts. That’s why Two Tunnels is building a volunteer network ready to act fast — covering as many New York City neighborhoods as possible.
You might be surprised to learn that around 80% of lost pets make it home because of effective poster coverage. In the cases I’ve personally worked on, two-thirds of pets were found thanks to great posters, and nearly 9 out of 10 families contacted me within 48 hours of their pet going missing.
Our volunteers help make that critical window count — putting up posters, spreading the word, and providing hands-on support to bring more pets home, faster.
Physical Posters = Sightings
Because of city restrictions on thermal drone use — and the lack of public access to the thousands of surveillance cameras across New York — the community has limited tools to track down a missing pet on the move.
That’s why posters are our most powerful tool. The faster and farther we get them up, the more calls and sightings we generate — and the closer we get to bringing a lost cat or dog home.
Two Tunnels relies on volunteers to make that happen. Whether it’s hanging posters, offering transportation, removing old flyers, checking shelters, monitoring websites for sightings, or simply being a kind presence for heartbroken owners — every action makes a difference.
You don’t have to do it all. Just one small effort can change everything for a family waiting for their pet to come home.
