Vice President

Jim TIerney

Secretary

Zannah Mass

An animal advocate, former arts professional and New York transplant to California, she has been inspired by her soul dog Django in innumerable ways, including to study holistic health for dogs and open pet care and animal wellness businesses. With his passing, she now also offers pet loss grief support services, fosters dogs in his honor, and is working on a tribute film and book about him.

Treasurer

LeeAnn Falciani

A long-time resident of Brooklyn, LeeAnn has spent much of her time as a Senior Book Cover Designer for both. Macmillan and Disney Publishing. Her passion, however, is helping cats. Leann met Jim while on a case at Gerritsen Beach. An indoor-only cat named Orson slipped out of his harness and spent five days in the brush. When the trap didn’t work, LeeAnn stepped in and was able to eventually lure Orson over to her and return him to his worried owners. She also spends much of her time looking after the feral cat community around her neighborhood.

Board Members At Large

Brittany Feldman

Brittany Feldman was born and raised in New York City. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 2007, she became a special education elementary school teacher in the NYC public school system. She received a dual Master’s Degree in General and Special Elementary Education in 2009.

A devoted animal lover since birth, Brittany always dreamed of helping animals in need. It was not until a 2012 trip to Villalobos Rescue Center in New Orleans, where she saw firsthand the faces of dogs rescued from unimaginable abuse, that she was inspired to take action. She became involved in the rescue world through volunteering at various shelters, as well as sponsoring pit bulls that she visits yearly in New Orleans.

As she became more immersed in the world of animal welfare, issues such as the horrific puppy mill industry came to her forefront. Having purchased her dog as a puppy from a pet store in 2006, she realized the importance of spreading awareness about adoption so that others could make well-informed decisions. As her passion grew, she decided to leave the Department of Education in the summer of 2013 to work at an animal shelter and further her knowledge of the rescue world.

Aware of the staggering population of animal lovers who continue to buy from pet shops and breeders, Brittany wanted to create a revolutionary shelter, one with a fashionable and whimsical vibe. With her quirky sense of style and tremendous passion, Shelter Chic was born- a fancy, funky, edgy shelter that would appeal to a diverse group, even to the “non-shelter” crowd.

Sean Paulsen

A Brooklyn-based filmmaker and audio producer. Sean was introduced to Jim while directing the documentary “Shadow of a Dog", which follows the story of a lost foster dog named Chica.

Amanda Medero

Amanda has been saving abandoned dogs and cats since her elementary school days. Fifteen years ago, she caught a glimpse of a Facebook plea to help catch a runaway dog that was being fostered in her area. This started a whole new chapter for Amanda. Little Black Dog Rescue changed the trajectory of her life with that post. Amanda spent the following ten years helping to network, foster, trap, transport, and board dogs for Little Black Dog Rescue. But after they relocated, Amanda became an indispensable partner with 4 Little Paws Rescue, where she continues the never-ending battle of getting dogs off the streets.
